THE PROCESS

From Idea to Manufacturing

How working with ParcoTech actually works — every step in order, what you send, what you get back, and what it costs to start. Jump in at the step you're at, or start at Step 1 and go the whole way.

Before Anything Starts

1

NDA first, if you want one

Download the ParcoTech NDA and we'll sign it — or send us your own. Nothing about your idea is shared or sent anywhere before you're covered.

2

Free consultation

Every project gets one. We find your step and talk through your product, its complexity, and what it needs.

3

Fixed quote, then work starts

You get a fixed price for your step or your full journey — no open-ended billing. Work starts when your files and notes arrive.

The Steps, In Order

Enter at any step — or run them all
1

Ideation & Plausibility

Problem identification, brainstorming, feasibility assessment, and how your product can be different. The honest read on whether it's buildable, and what it will take.

You provide
  • Your idea in any form — description, sketch, photos, a reference product
  • The problem it solves, and who it's for
  • Hard constraints: size, cost target
You receive
  • A straight feasibility read
  • Your recommended next step
  • A fixed quote if you're ready to move
2

Looks-Like Design & Functional Concepting

The idea becomes a real product direction: the looks-like design, the functional layout — how parts fit, move, and are held — and CAD for appearance and ergonomics, refined in rounds until the direction is locked.

You provide
  • Everything from Step 1
  • What it must do, and what it has to fit or mate with
  • Look-and-feel direction, if you have one
You receive
  • A looks-like design in CAD you can react to
  • The functional layout worked out
  • A locked design direction, ready for prototyping
3

Prototype-Ready Design

The final step of prototyping: we design and build it, and you end up with a prototype in hand — printed, machined, or made another way, whichever fits the product. The structure, part splits, and fastening are chosen so the same design can become the manufactured product — not a dead end.

You provide
  • Sketch, photos, dimensions, or existing CAD
  • Any finish or color preferences for the prototype
  • What the prototype must prove: looks, fit, or function
You receive
  • A finished prototype in hand — built and assembled
  • Parametric Fusion 360 CAD + the fabrication files used to build it
  • Fits checked in the model and on the finished parts
4

Production-Ready CAD

Models a manufacturer can actually build from — clean parametric history, real wall thicknesses, and fits and clearances set for your manufacturing process. Headed for injection molding? It is designed for the mold from the first sketch: proper draft, uniform wall thickness, ribs and bosses where they help, and snap-fits and closures engineered, not guessed.

You provide
  • Sketch, photos with dimensions, or existing CAD
  • What the product must do, and what it mates with
  • The manufacturing process it's headed for
  • Target material and expected volume, if you know them
You receive
  • Native Fusion 360 file + STEP + STL (never held back)
  • Production-ready CAD a manufacturer can quote and build from
  • Drawings and renders for review
  • Flags on anything that will bite at tooling or assembly
5

DFM & Manufacturing Readiness Review

Your design reviewed the way a manufacturer will — before you commit to tooling. Every finding ranked by how much it will cost you if it reaches the mold.

You provide
  • CAD or STEP files
  • Target process and material, expected volume
  • Known problem areas, and dimensions that cannot change
You receive
  • An annotated DFM report (PDF), findings ranked
  • Redlined screenshots of problem areas
  • At the Advanced tier: the fixes applied, with updated files
6

Production Drawings with GD&T

The drawing package manufacturers build and inspect from — tolerances set by function, GD&T where the fit demands it, to ASME Y14.5.

You provide
  • Your 3D model files
  • Manufacturing process for each part
  • Mating parts or interface dimensions
You receive
  • Production drawings as PDF + DWG
  • Ready to attach to your RFQ or PO
  • Tolerance problems flagged, never hidden
✓

Manufacturing Ready & RFQ

Production CAD, the DFM summary, drawings, and BOM — a package any manufacturer can quote from. Take it and run your own RFQ, or have ParcoTech find manufacturers for you.

Option A — Take the package
  • Included at the end of the final step
  • You send the RFQ and run the quoting yourself
Option B — We find manufacturers for you
  • We find and vet manufacturers that fit your product and volume
  • We send them your RFQ package and bring the quotes back to you
  • Set up on the free consultation

Three Ways To Work Together

By the step

Jump in at a single step — a DFM review, a drawing package, a prototype design. Every step has an Advanced tier with custom pricing for complex projects.

The full journey

All of it, as one milestone project: plausibility → concepting → prototyping → finalization and DFM. One quote, four fixed milestones.

On retainer

Ongoing design support while your project is active — priority scheduling included.

Questions, Answered Straight

No CAD yet. Can a project still start?

Yes — that's what Steps 1 and 2 are for. Bring the idea in any form; sketches and reference products are enough.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, before you send a single file — ours or yours, your choice, on every project.

Who owns the design?

You do — in full, on final payment. Native Fusion 360 files are included, never held back.

Do you manufacture the product?

No — ParcoTech's scope ends at design ready for manufacturing. But we can find and vet manufacturers for you and bring their quotes back (Option B, at the Manufacturing Ready step).
